PROMOTE RECYCLING, LIVE SUSTAINABILITY

In Switzerland, around one million tons of plastics are consumed annually, generating around 780,000 tons of plastic waste.

Although Switzerland is a recycling country, only around 80,000 tons of this is recycled. This means that around 86% (700,000 tons) is incinerated, and a small portion of this is recycled in cement plants. The amount of waste will continue to increase in the future.

Save the Oceans

Around 80 percent of the approximately nine million tons of plastic waste that enter the oceans annually come from land, including Switzerland. The Rhone River alone transports around ten kilograms of microplastics from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean every day. An estimated 20 tons of plastic enter the oceans annually. Rivers are, so to speak, the "roots of the oceans," meaning marine conservation begins on our own doorstep.
